About The Position
Riverside Smithfield Hospital, opening in early 2026, aims to provide high-quality healthcare to Isle of Wight County residents. Located on a 27-acre campus, the new 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility features modern amenities and comprehensive medical services, including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging, 38 Medical/Surgical beds, 12 ICU beds, and 4 Operating Rooms. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future of healthcare in Smithfield by delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a state-of-the-art environment. The position is responsible for the registration of all patient types, ensuring data integrity, understanding regulatory compliance, maintaining patient safety through correct identification, and providing excellent customer service. This role is crucial to the Revenue Cycle.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1 year Billing/Customer Service/Patient Registration (Preferred)
Nice To Haves
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) - National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) within 1 Year (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Obtains or validates patient information and registers patients into the software system, while providing a high level of customer service.
- Ensures all necessary demographic and financial data are obtained and documented into the system.
- Maintains patient safety through the correct patient identification practices.
- Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters relating to patient PHI.
- Works daily reports and account work queues to ensure the integrity of the registration data.
- Handles patient inquiries related to registration.
- Calculates payment information, accepts funds and credit accounts accordingly for Time of Service collections.
- Ensures EMTALA rules and regulations are strictly adhered to when registering patients through the ED and Obstetrics.
- Completes forms and collects documents as needed based on the registration type.
