Patient Access Representative PRN
About The Position
RiverView Health has an opening for a (PRN - as needed) Patient Access Representative – Main Clinic. This position would cover shifts between 7am – 7pm. in our Crookston location and may support our weekend rotation (flexible hours) based on need. The Patient Access Representative answers phones and schedules patients for initial or follow-up appointments. They greet and register patients while collecting and accurately entering all information required for visits. This role requires clear and effective communication with patients and families, physicians, nurses, and insurance companies. The representative performs insurance verification for eligibility, collects point of service payments and other patient liabilities, obtains signatures for necessary documents, and safeguards and reconciles all monies collected daily in compliance with cash handling policies and procedures. This position will be cross-trained to the Emergency Department for Patient Access responsibilities in that area when needed.
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ensure accurate data entry for patient registration and scheduling
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Nice To Haves
- Experience in health care setting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience in Patient Access and/or Epic
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, insurance
Responsibilities
- Answers phones and schedules patients for initial of follow-up appointments.

- Performs insurance verification either real time or manual verification for eligibility.
- Performs point of service, collection of co-pays and other patient liability.
- Obtains signatures for all necessary documents.
- Safeguards and reconciles all monies collected daily in compliance to cash handling policies and procedures.
- This position will be cross trained to the Emergency Department for Patient Access responsibilities in that area when needed.
