About The Position

RiverView Health has an opening for a (PRN - as needed) Patient Access Representative – Main Clinic. This is a PRN position that requires day, evening, and weekend availability. Availability to work overnights is a plus. The Patient Access Representative answers phones and schedules patients for initial or follow-up appointments. They greet and register patients while collecting and accurately entering all information required for visits. This role communicates clearly and effectively with patients and families, physicians, nurses, and insurance companies. They perform insurance verification either real-time or manual verification for eligibility. The representative also performs point-of-service collection of co-pays and other patient liability. They obtain signatures for all necessary documents and safeguard and reconcile all monies collected daily in compliance with cash handling policies and procedures. This position will be cross-trained to the Emergency Department for Patient Access responsibilities in that area when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Ensure accurate data entry for patient registration and scheduling
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in health care setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Patient Access and/or Epic
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, insurance
