The Patient Access Representative III plays a critical role on the care team by providing patients with a compassionate experience when checking in and out of appointments, coordinating future visits, and responding to inbound calls. The role uses independent judgment, customer service, communication, and multitasking skills to coordinate patient appointments across multiple hospital departments. It uses telecommunications and computer information systems to create accounts, verify information and insurance, collect co-pays, and schedule or reschedule complex appointments. The representative also communicates regularly with physicians, nurses, care team members, and departments to support teamwork and seamless clinic operations. The position handles registration and scheduling across clinics, ancillary areas, and the hospital, including preregistration, consents, appointment coordination, accurate demographic and insurance data entry, legal documentation, cash collection, patient pricing estimates, and ETC admission. It reviews account documentation, verifies insurance eligibility and authorization, supports financial clearance, and connects patients with financial counseling and assistance resources.
