About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Access at SoLé Mia is hiring a full-time, on-site Patient Access Representative 3. The position oversees patient registration and financial clearance activities that facilitate reimbursement for departmental services and serves as a functional expert and lead resource for department peers. Duties may vary according to departmental needs, and additional consistent responsibilities may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification, or license.
At least 3 years of relevant experience.
Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
Ability to collaborate with others and contribute to a team environment.
Proficiency with office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information needed to financially clear scheduled patient accounts.
Contact patients’ families or physicians’ offices to obtain missing insurance information.
Verify insurance and confirm patient coverage eligibility and benefits; notify the patient and referring physician if eligibility fails.
Collaborate with scheduling departments to identify add-on patients.
Obtain necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals.
Notify patients of liabilities before the date of service and collect funds.
Maintain appropriate records and files and document information accurately in the system of record.
Serve as a lead resource for lower-level Patient Access Representatives.
Recommend new approaches to management to enhance performance and productivity.
Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
