The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for patients and represents BJC through compassionate, high-standard customer service. The role facilitates patients’ entry into BJC facilities and requires emotional intelligence, attention to detail, and the ability to make personal connections with patients whose medical needs and acuity vary. Accurate collection of demographic and insurance information, benefit verification, and point-of-service collections help maximize reimbursements and prevent denials. Correctly selecting patients from the master person index is essential to patient safety and record integrity. The position performs hospital registration and scheduling across multiple BJC systems, including patient identification, insurance verification, document scanning and retrieval, and validating orders. The representative communicates procedure preparation instructions and explains financial responsibilities and applicable payments. The role also requires understanding and applying complex regulatory requirements, independent problem-solving, and professional communication with patients, families, and colleagues. The representative works independently, meets or exceeds quality standards, and mentors less-skilled employees. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices. The department supports administrative functions for outpatient clinical rehabilitation services at Graham Medical Center, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, and day rehabilitation. The stated schedule is 10:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
