About The Position

Baptist Health Medical Group is hiring a full-time Patient Access Coordinator for Maternal Fetal Medicine in the St. Matthews area. This first-shift role supports patient access services by registering and pre-registering patients, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, providing estimates of patient responsibility, and collecting payments. The coordinator directs patients, answers calls and inquiries, maintains accurate visit information, and provides customer service to patients, colleagues, physicians, and office staff. The position also requires knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements relevant to access services and completion of ongoing training.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Registration experience is preferred.
Relevant experience may include patient access, coordination, front desk or office work, reception, clinic work, customer service, or administration.

Responsibilities

Register patients promptly and accurately, obtaining demographic and insurance information.
Direct patients, answer phones, and handle inquiries.
Verify eligibility, Medicare compliance, and benefits before visits.
Use applicable patient access software systems.
Estimate patient responsibility and perform point-of-service collections.
Discuss benefits, payment expectations, and payment plans with patients based on their insurance plans.
Pre-register patients and discuss benefits with them during pre-registration and in the department.
Provide excellent customer service to patients, fellow employees, physicians, and office staff.
Maintain patient visit information in the system and update it as requested.
Demonstrate knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements affecting access services.
Complete required ongoing training and education, including department-specific requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested to maintain a high level of service.
