About The Position

The Patient Access Associate ensures that each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, including demographics, insurance coverage, and responsible guarantor information. The associate registers patients accurately and explains the services they will receive, their financial responsibilities, and facility expectations. The role provides excellent service to create a positive first impression for patients, families, and other external patients in person and over the phone. It requires deductive reasoning and logic to resolve issues that may arise in complex, multi-payer situations. Onsite work is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation.
Problem-solving, conflict-management, and time-management skills.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Complete all role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.

Nice To Haves

Three years of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.
Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
