About The Position

The Pathology Coordinator will be responsible for contacting patients daily to effectively communicate pathology results and answer any questions they may have. This role requires strong telephone skills and the ability to communicate with providers via email or phone. The coordinator must be competent with medical terminology, able to schedule appointments using Next Gen Practice Management, and have a good understanding of EMA Electronic Medical Records. Additionally, the role involves triaging phone calls, addressing patient concerns about pathology results, activating patient portals for record access, updating pharmacy information, sending medication refills, and planning, organizing, and prioritizing daily tasks. The position emphasizes working effectively as a team member, operating with minimal supervision, and contributing to weekly team goals. A key aspect of this role is creating a culture of patient excellence and delivering outstanding customer service.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience in a doctor's office.
  • Prior dermatology experience.
  • Quality written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and mannerisms.
  • Understand dermatology terminology.
  • Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients and coworkers alike.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, understand provider instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.
  • Competent with the terminology needed to perform the job.
  • Self-starter.
  • Motivation to succeed as a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification preferred (e.g., Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Dermatology Technician).
  • EMA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contact patients daily to communicate pathology results effectively and answer questions.
