About The Position

The Pathology Coordinator will be responsible for contacting patients daily to effectively communicate pathology results and answer any questions they may have. This role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to understand and use medical terminology, particularly in dermatology. The coordinator will also manage patient appointments, utilize electronic medical records (EMA), triage phone calls, and assist with pharmacy-related tasks. A key aspect of this role is to foster a culture of patient excellence and deliver outstanding customer service, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years experience in a doctor's office.
  • Prior dermatology experience.
  • Quality written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional in appearance and mannerisms.
  • Understand dermatology terminology.
  • Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with patients and coworkers.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, understand provider instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.
  • Competent with the terminology needed to perform the job.
  • Able to work effectively as a team member with providers and other staff.
  • Self-starter.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to reach weekly goals as a team.
  • Motivation to succeed as a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification preferred (e.g., Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Dermatology Technician).
  • EMA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contact patients daily to communicate pathology results effectively and answer questions.
  • Communicate with providers via email or phone.
  • Schedule appointments with multiple providers using Next Gen Practice Management.
  • Triage phone calls and task teams.
  • Answer patient concerns regarding pathology results.
  • Activate the patient portal for record and pathology result viewing.
  • Update pharmacy changes.
  • Send medication refills when indicated.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Work effectively as a team member with providers and other staff.
  • Create a culture of patient excellence and deliver customer service.
