About The Position

To provide secretarial, administrative and process assistance to Anatomical Pathology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Responsible for the daily workload and tasks associated with the operation of the Pathology Office. Assistance to Pathologists as required. Liaise with Oncology for requested tests. General office duties including ordering of supplies, entering work orders etc. Referring-out slides and blocks for consultations. Maintains logs of send-outs and follows up on outstanding cases. Participates in the training and orientation of new staff. Acts as confidential secretary to the Pathologists and Manager as required. Generates statistical reports as required. Assists in the daily operation of the office by assuming responsibility for further delegated tasks. Maintains and updates skills as required. Participates in Halton Healthcare staff programs and meetings.

Requirements

  • 2 year community college program (Graduate Medical Secretarial Program; Medical Transcription) or equivalent experience
  • Must be physically able to do the job
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record
  • Required to use Meditech Expanse, dictating equipment, printers, phones
  • Previously demonstrated experience with computers and medical terminology required
  • Specific knowledge of pathology terminology an asset as extensive Surgical Pathology reporting is required
