About The Position

Pathology Assistant — Pathology position in Grand Forks, North Dakota, United States. This is a travel - temporary assignment lasting 13 weeks with guaranteed 40 hours per week. The role is in a hospital setting with a focus on surgical specimen preparation, gross description, and support of Pathology services.

Requirements

Completion of NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant Program
ASCP certification or exam-ready with certification prior to start date
Ability to perform duties under supervision of a pathologist and in an on-site hospital pathology setting
Eligibility to work in the stated location and to participate in a travel assignment

Responsibilities

Maintain accuracy of patient identification on all specimens processed for microscopic examination.
Perform surgical specimen dissection on simple to complex cases and provide quality material for routine histology studies; obtain pathologist input for gross specimen analysis when appropriate.
Conduct frozen sections and maintain cryostats; dictate complete and accurate gross descriptions.
Communicate findings and results in a timely, professional manner with pathologists and providers.
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, supplies, and the cleanliness of the gross cutting area and morgue; dispose of tissues and reagents per procedures.
Perform quality control and routine preventive maintenance; keep gross bench procedures manual current with CAP compliance review.
