About The Position

Valley View Hospital is seeking a PRN (as needed) Pathologists Assistant to provide daytime coverage for grossing surgical specimens. Under the direct supervision of a Pathologist, the role performs procedures to prepare surgical specimens for diagnostic pathology, uses resources and techniques according to established policies and procedures, and maintains skills and knowledge in support of the Pathology Department’s services.

Requirements

One year of experience in a Pathology Assistant role.
Knowledge of all aspects of the histology department.
Knowledge of surgical and autopsy pathology.
Knowledge of identification of all tissue specimens.
Knowledge of preparation of frozen sections.
Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) Certification preferred.
Knowledge and use of voice recognition preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform procedures to prepare surgical specimens for diagnostic pathology under a Pathologist’s direct supervision.
Use resources and techniques effectively according to established policies and procedures.
Maintain skills and knowledge to promote the Pathology Department’s services.
