About The Position

The Pathologists Assistant provides daytime coverage for grossing surgical specimens and performs procedures to prepare surgical specimens for diagnostic pathology under a Pathologist’s direct supervision. The role uses resources and techniques effectively according to established policies and procedures and maintains skills and knowledge to promote the Pathology Department’s services. This is a PRN (as needed) position.

The posted salary range is $48.62 to $72.92 per hour, plus a 14% PRN differential. Entry salary depends on education, skill set, and experience. An annual bonus is available to eligible PRN employees based on organizational and individual performance.

Requirements

• One year of experience in a Pathology Assistant role.
• Knowledge of all aspects of the histology department.
• Knowledge of surgical and autopsy pathology.
• Knowledge of identification of all tissue specimens.
• Knowledge of preparation of frozen sections.
• Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification is preferred.
• Knowledge and use of voice recognition is preferred.
