About The Position

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a full-time AP/CP BC/BE pathologist to fill a position opening due to retirement. We currently have 7 anatomic pathologists and a dedicated clinical pathologist. Strong general surgical pathology skills are necessary, with a preference for expertise and/or fellowship training in Cytopathology, GYN pathology, or GI/liver pathology. We also have busy Breast and ENT services. Preference will be given to pathologists with 3+ years independent sign out experience, but exceptional candidates of any training level or subspecialty will be considered. The position offers a Monday-Friday schedule with shared weekend and holiday call (no weekend sign-out) and no travel required, promoting a great work/life balance. The role involves managing 36,000+ surgical cases per year and 5300+ non-gyn cytology cases per year. Responsibilities include a mixture of biopsy and complex cases with frozen section responsibility. There is no grossing or autopsies required. Limited clinical laboratory responsibilities and limited hematopathology work (3 hematopathologists sign-out all marrows and assist in lymphoma workups) are also part of the role. Mercy Hospital Springfield is an 877-bed tertiary hospital and Level I trauma center with 24 main ORs and an ambulatory surgery center with 8 ORs. It is supported by 600+ physicians and utilizes Epic Medical Record with Beaker LIS and Dragon transcription.

Requirements

AP/CP BC/BE pathologist.
Strong general surgical pathology skills.
3+ years independent sign out experience (preferred, but exceptional candidates will be considered).
