About The Position

Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment. The role is based at Hotel Clio, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Denver’s Cherry Creek North district, and supports its Toro Latin Kitchen & Lounge restaurant.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Minimum one year of food service or related work.
• Ability to work as a team member and communicate with kitchen staff.
• Regularly lift, push, pull, and carry food cases and other items weighing up to 70 lbs.
• Periodic climbing and bending at the knees, including when using the lower oven.
• Full range of mobility and ability to travel 30–50 feet regularly throughout the day.
• Ability to stand continuously during preparation, service, or expediting, usually all day.
• Ability to hear equipment timers and communicate with other staff.
• Ability to see that products are prepared appropriately.
• Moderate literacy to read use records and special requests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality according to recipe cards, production standards, and portion standards.
• Start food items prepared ahead of time while avoiding preparing more than estimated needs.
• Date food containers and rotate items according to standard operating procedures (SOP), keeping perishables at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use and determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line setup.
• Note out-of-stock items or possible shortages.
• Return unused food items to designated storage areas for the next shift, covering and dating perishables.
• Assist in planning and taking corrective action for food cost problems; control food waste, loss, and usage according to SOP.
