About The Position

Austin Country Club in Austin, TX is looking to hire a full-time Pastry Cook / Baker to work in our kitchen. This baking position with our hospitality team earns a competitive wage of $21 per hour. Requirements

  • High school diploma OR vocational training certificate
  • 2+ years of experience working as a pastry cook
  • Valid Food Handler's certification for Austin, TX
  • Working knowledge of pastry and kitchen operations
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Proficient in English
  • Thirst for learning new skills
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Punctual and task-driven
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks while demonstrating good time management

Nice To Haves

  • A certificate or apprenticeship in culinary training is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepping a variety of sweet treats for the members of our country club.
  • Checking the kitchen's production schedule and prioritizing items for the shift.
  • Preparing a variety of baked goods from scratch, including mousses, custards, doughs, and sweet bread, following recipes.
  • Completing daily prep lists and checking to make sure all needed materials are in stock.
  • Portioning all products to specifications and arranging plates according to standards.
  • Stocking all items for a la carte service and helping prep for banquet events.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of how to properly use all kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Reporting any issues to maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Keeping the walk-in freezer and workstation clean and organized on a daily basis.
  • Inspecting the cleanliness of tools, equipment, and supplies before use.
  • Checking in with the executive pastry chef to review assignments and get pertinent information about anticipated business levels.
