About The Position

Austin Country Club in Austin, TX is looking to hire a full-time Pastry Cook / Baker to work in our kitchen. The role involves prepping a variety of sweet treats for the members of the country club, following recipes to prepare baked goods from scratch, completing daily prep lists, and ensuring materials are in stock. The Pastry Cook / Baker will also portion products to specifications, arrange plates according to standards, stock items for a la carte service, and prep for banquet events. Maintaining a working knowledge of kitchen equipment and tools, reporting issues to maintenance, and keeping the workstation clean and organized are also key responsibilities. The role requires checking in with the executive pastry chef to review assignments and discuss anticipated business levels.

Requirements

  • High school diploma OR vocational training certificate
  • 2+ years of experience working as a pastry cook
  • Valid Food Handler's certification for Austin, TX
  • Working knowledge of pastry and kitchen operations
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Proficient in English

Responsibilities

  • Prep a variety of sweet treats for the members of the country club.
  • Check the kitchen's production schedule and prioritize items for the shift.
  • Prepare a variety of baked goods from scratch, including mousses, custards, doughs, and sweet bread.
  • Complete daily prep lists and check to make sure all needed materials are in stock.
  • Portion all products to specifications and arrange plates according to standards.
  • Stock all items for a la carte service.
  • Help prep for banquet events.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of how to properly use all kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Report any issues to maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Keep the walk-in freezer and workstation clean and organized on a daily basis.
  • Inspect the cleanliness of tools, equipment, and supplies before use.
  • Check in with the executive pastry chef to review assignments and get pertinent information about anticipated business levels.
