About The Position

Restaurant Associates, part of Compass Group, is hiring a full-time Pastry Chef at Houston Space Center in Houston, Texas. The Pastry Chef creates, plans, and supervises daily production of pastries, desserts, and baked goods. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The stated pay range is $23.00 to $25.00 per hour. Three years of pastry chef experience is required.

Requirements

Three years of pastry chef experience.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Supervise the daily production and distribution of pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
Ensure recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled, and appropriate quantities are prepared based on established production needs.
Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures.
Monitor and control maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to meet or exceed federal, state, and corporate standards and regulations.
Supervise hourly kitchen and pastry associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate.
Help plan and implement seasonal menus.
Order and maintain pastry supplies and products to ensure appropriate inventory levels.
Perform other duties as assigned.
