About The Position
The Congregational Church of East Sumner (East Sumner, ME) seeks a Pastor to lead their congregation. The church is located in the western mountains of Maine. Sumner is a town of around 1,000 people, with another approx. 3,500 in neighboring towns from which the 35 congregants come. The church seeks a pastor to lead them and help them witness for God in their community. Worship was sustained during the pandemic, the congregation has returned to normal and membership is stable. The church seeks to reach out to the unchurched and develop a dynamic children’s program.
Requirements
- Mature believer in Christ who embraces Reformed theology and principles
- Half time, bivocational pastor
- Graduate of a seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (preferably)
- If a recent college graduate with significant faith formation/training, the seminary requirement is waivable, but the candidate would be expected to be engaged in credible and approved continuing education at a Reformed school.
- If bivocational, the church will bear in mind the demands of the other employment. In this case, the church related continuing education may be online, as long as it includes an in person component that the church would be supportive of.
Responsibilities

- Regular communication with the congregation
