About The Position

The Congregational Lead Pastor for the Peoria Campus is a unique role tailored for a leader who loves people and loves preaching. As a vision carrier/leader, they are the primary stage presence, focusing on the weekend service, leading the local pastoral team, not traditional staff management and operational responsibilities (which are handled by the central executive team). This pastor can fully dedicate time to shepherding the congregation, preaching, and engaging relationally with the people, all the while ensuring that discipleship is being pushed forward through the weekend services and ministries in Peoria.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of ministry experience, demonstrating maturity and the ability to effectively interact with God's Word.
  • An undergraduate degree is required.
  • Must be a married male.
  • Meets the biblical qualifications of a pastor outlined in 1 Timothy.
  • Must be a strong leader, have a good sense of humor, and be able to thrive in a playful, prayerful and unapologetically driven for the Kingdom culture.
  • A high capacity leader who is motivated by working for God and excels at self-leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • A seminary degree is desired or the candidate must be willing to pursue one.
  • Prior campus pastor or multi-site experience is helpful but not explicitly required.
  • "Hungry, Humble, Smart" – eager to work, confident yet deeply humble, and highly collaborative.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary stage leader, vision carrier, and influencer for the Peoria congregation.
  • Deliver expository and application-driven sermons.
  • Ensure the pulpit ministry and discipleship is consistent with the theology, philosophy, and excellence of Christ Church.
  • Pastoral oversight responsibility of the weekend services, ensuring every aspect of the gathering aligns with the documents of Christ Church.
  • Function as a relationally accessible pastor who ensures the congregation feels known and loved.
  • Pursue the assimilation, spiritual formation, and mobilization of the congregation.
  • Care for individuals to pursue Christ-likeness and reinforce behaviors and values associated with Christ Church.
  • Personally engage in relationships with members for the benefit of their discipleship.
  • Act as the leader among equals on the campus pastoral team.
  • Identify, recruit, and develop qualified, likeminded leaders at the campus, including pastors and deacons.
  • Partner with other members of the central pastoral team to defend sound doctrine and engage in a unified mission.
