About The Position

Canyon Hills Friends Church is seeking a Children's Pastor to lead and grow its ministry for children from nursery through 5th grade. The role oversees Sunday programs, a Wednesday night program, and MOMCO ministry, and develops engaging environments that help children grow in faith, build relationships, and experience the love of Christ. Ministry programming uses Orange Curriculum and emphasizes worship, discipleship, evangelism, fellowship, and service.

The Children's Pastor plans community outreach events, recruits and develops volunteers, supports children’s discipleship, and connects new families with the church. The role also oversees classroom coordination, childcare staff, and safety procedures, including onboarding and background checks. The position offers the opportunity to shape a ministry, equip parents to disciple their children, and contribute to the church’s mission of making more and better disciples of Jesus Christ.

• Passion for children's ministry and helping children experience Jesus.
• Visionary leadership and ability to build and grow a ministry through creativity and strategic planning.
• Ability to recruit, train, and encourage volunteers.
• Organization and proactive planning skills, including developing and implementing ministry plans.
• Energetic, relational approach to connecting with children, parents, and church families.
• Commitment to making more and better disciples of Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee ministries for nursery through 5th grade, including Sunday programs, the Wednesday night program, and MOMCO ministry.
• Create engaging programs using Orange Curriculum and focusing on worship, discipleship, evangelism, fellowship, and service.
• Plan community outreach events, including an Easter Egg Hunt, VBS, and Fall Outreach.
• Recruit, equip, train, and coach volunteers and ministry leaders.
• Help children know Christ, grow in faith, and share Jesus with others.
• Develop outreach strategies to welcome new families and connect unchurched children with the church.
• Oversee classroom coordination, childcare staff, and safety protocols, including onboarding procedures and background checks.
• Help equip parents to disciple their children.
