About The Position

Metlang is seeking experienced Pashto court interpreters to provide interpretation for legal proceedings, including proffers, arraignments, depositions, hearings, trial preparation, and trials. The role involves interpreting orally, consecutively or simultaneously, from a source language to a target language; transcribing spoken language into its written form; translating spoken or written material into another language; and analyzing information methodically for explanation and interpretation. The pay rate is $100.25 per hour. This is a 1099 contractor position.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of consecutive and/or simultaneous court interpreting experience.
• Experience preparing court-ready transcriptions and translations.
• Expert-level fluency in English and Pashto.
• Ability to accurately interpret legal concepts, forensic terminology, and regional and cultural variations in slang and colloquialisms without changes, omissions, or additions.
• Ability to work independently and engage directly with clients professionally.
• Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining the appropriate tone, speed, and projection of the speaker.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer software and applications in English and Pashto.
