About The Position

The Court Interpreter provides accurate and impartial translation services between English and Spanish in support of court proceedings and court-related functions. The role interprets legal proceedings, provides sight and written translation of court-related documents, and facilitates meaningful access to the courts for individuals with limited English proficiency. Interpreters must maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and impartiality in accordance with applicable Florida Rules and professional standards. The position serves the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit and travels to court facilities throughout the circuit as needed. The work location is to be determined. Applicants must reside within the Circuit or be willing to relocate.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, the source language, or a closely related field; additional relevant experience may substitute year for year.
• Two years of court- or legal-related work experience; additional relevant education may substitute year for year.
• Certification as a Court Interpreter issued by the Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA), or current designation as a Provisionally Approved Court Interpreter by OSCA.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Applicants must reside within the Circuit or be willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Interpret legal proceedings, including first appearances, arraignments, hearings, pretrial conferences, and trials.
• Provide sight translation and written translation of court-related documents.
• Facilitate meaningful access to the courts for individuals with limited English proficiency.
• Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and impartiality in accordance with applicable Florida Rules and professional standards.
• Travel to court facilities throughout the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit as needed.
