About The Position

Cobalt Construction Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Parts Person (Journeyperson or Equivalent Experience) to support our growing fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, and support vehicles operating across Yukon and Northern Canada. The Parts Person plays a critical role in ensuring our maintenance and operations teams have the right parts, materials, and supplies when and where they need them. This position requires strong organizational skills, heavy equipment knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction environment where downtime is not an option. The successful candidate will work closely with mechanics, project managers, vendors, and field personnel to manage inventory, source parts, coordinate logistics, and maintain efficient parts operations.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Parts Technician certification preferred; equivalent heavy equipment or industrial parts experience will be considered
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a heavy equipment, mining, trucking, construction, or industrial parts environment
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment, diesel engines, truck components, hydraulic systems, and construction equipment
  • Experience with inventory management and purchasing systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to read parts diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certification considered an asset
  • Experience supporting remote or northern operations considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Source, order, receive, and distribute parts for heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and support equipment
  • Maintain inventory levels and ensure critical stock items are readily available
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, dealerships, and vendors across Western and Northern Canada
  • Identify parts requirements using electronic parts catalogs, service manuals, and manufacturer systems
  • Coordinate urgent parts procurement and expedited shipments to remote project sites
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and quality
  • Process returns, warranty claims, and core returns with suppliers
  • Organize and maintain parts storage areas, warehouses, and inventory systems
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with inventory control processes
  • Issue parts to mechanics and field personnel while maintaining accurate records
  • Track backorders and follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery
  • Assist with equipment mobilization and demobilization requirements
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics of parts, tools, and supplies to remote sites
  • Maintain purchasing records, invoices, and inventory documentation
  • Support shop and field operations by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce equipment downtime
