Partnerships Manager

The Local ProjectNew York, NY
$85,000 - $95,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Local Project is a rapidly expanding design publication with a presence in Australia, New Zealand, and North America. We specialize in showcasing exceptional local design and its global influence through high-quality print, digital, video, and social content, reaching a worldwide audience monthly. In 2024, we launched The Local Production, a comprehensive creative studio dedicated to enhancing brands via thoughtful storytelling and premium content. This is a key commercial role within our New York operations. You will collaborate closely with the Chief Partnerships Officer to drive revenue growth, cultivate and manage partner relationships, and oversee deals from initial contact through to execution and renewal. This position is structured for growth, offering significant ownership early on. You will be trained in The Local Project's sales methodologies and standards, with support to eventually manage your own portfolio of accounts and revenue targets.

Requirements

  • Three to five years in partnerships, brand, media sales, agency account management, or a related commercial role.
  • Experience supporting or partially carrying a book of business.
  • Not a finished senior with a fixed playbook; not learning what a pipeline is; ready to be shaped.
  • Commercial instinct: ability to read a deal, know when to push and when to hold, and a desire to own a number.
  • Motivation by outcomes and energy from the sell.
  • AI native: already use AI as a core part of how you work and excited to push it further.
  • Relationship intelligence and taste: ability to hold a premium room well, client-first approach.
  • Real or fast-developing literacy in architecture, design, and premium brand storytelling.
  • Coachable and low ego: lead with curiosity about how we do things rather than how you have always done them; desire to be taught.
  • Organized and accurate: ability to manage multiple partners and timelines simultaneously.
  • Hold yourself to a high standard on detail, contracts, and data.
  • Eligible to work in the United States; hold existing US work rights.

Nice To Haves

  • You will be mentored directly by the Chief Partnerships Officer and exposed early to pricing, packaging, negotiation, renewals and partner strategy.
  • As you grow, you will take on more ownership across account management and revenue, with a clear path toward carrying a full book and, in time, leading partnerships of your own and supporting hires beneath you.

Responsibilities

  • Carry and grow partnerships, supporting the Chief Partnerships Officer across the full partnership lifecycle, from pitch and proposal through to delivery, reporting and renewal.
  • Take ownership of a growing set of accounts over time, including seed accounts passed to you, with a clear path to carrying your own book.
  • Manage day-to-day partner communication with professionalism and warmth, ensuring timeliness, consideration, and alignment with our brand tone.
  • Deliver a high-touch experience that reflects the brand.
  • Ensure all deals are properly documented, driving booking forms and contracts to signature before work commences.
  • Track terms and timelines, and maintain commercial detail to protect revenue.
  • Keep HubSpot clean, current, and trustworthy, maintaining accurate deal stages, values, and dates for reliable pipeline and forecast reporting.
  • Prepare proposals, decks, and renewal presentations that reflect the premium positioning of The Local Project, incorporating audience insights, case studies, and appropriate formats for each partner.
  • Keep sales materials sharp and current.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance reporting across agreed metrics.
  • Translate results into clear insights to support renewals and future strategy.

Benefits

  • Base salary: 85,000 - 95,000 USD per year.
  • Commission: On target commission of 60,000 USD per year.
