About The Position

Arbour Counseling Services is offering a clinical internship in its Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), beginning in May 2027. The internship is designed to provide students with training and supervision on the responsibilities of a counselor or therapist in a multidisciplinary behavioral healthcare system. Interns gain clinical experience in a setting focused on quality care and documentation, with the goal of preparing them to provide meaningful care in future roles. The program offers experience in groups, intakes, case management, and crisis management. Interns receive regular in-services on topics including mental health law and ethics, related systems, resume writing, and job searching. Weekly supervision is provided by an independently licensed behavioral health provider (LICSW or LMHC), with additional access to supervisors and clinicians. The program also provides professional development and support for balancing work, life, and school. Interns develop skills in assessment and diagnosis, treatment planning, therapy, case management, aftercare planning, program operations, multidisciplinary collaboration, insurance authorization, level-of-care assessment, medical-necessity justification, crisis management, risk assessment, safety planning, and case presentation. The program includes ongoing review of internship goals, documentation skills, and evaluation forms required by Arbour and the intern’s academic program.
