About The Position

The Part-Time Prevention Facilitator provides prevention education, youth development programming, and case management services for youth and families participating in the P.O.W.E.R. The facilitator delivers evidence-based prevention services designed to reduce substance use risk factors, strengthen protective factors, and promote healthy decision-making among youth. Working collaboratively with schools, families, community partners, and program staff, the Prevention Facilitator engages with youth and their families through individual support, group facilitation, mentoring, referrals, and prevention-focused activities. This position requires flexibility to travel between multiple program sites and community locations while maintaining high standards of documentation and contractual compliance. We do this by providing comprehensive support to children and their families in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. Children's Aid annually serves children and their families at over 40 sites in New York, as well as through three national program models. Children's Aid is concentrating its efforts on creating cradle-through-college pathways in high-need neighborhoods, with a focus on children’s health, family stability, education, and social and emotional development. Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
1 to 2 years of experience working with youth, families, prevention programs, behavioral health, education, or community-based organizations.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 Office.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree preferred.
Experience facilitating groups with youth preferred.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct prevention services to youth and families in school, community, and center-based settings.
Maintain a caseload of approximately 10 youth and families.
Facilitate assigned evidence-based prevention programs (EBPs) with fidelity.
Plan and facilitate prevention education groups, social-emotional learning activities, and life skills workshops.
Provide individual mentoring, supportive counseling, crisis intervention, and appropriate referrals.
Recruit, engage, and retain youth and families in prevention programming.
Support youth identified as at risk through individualized prevention planning and follow-up.
Accompany youth on educational trips, internships, college visits, and community-based activities as assigned.
Assist with implementation of special events, prevention campaigns, health fairs, and environmental prevention strategies.
Administer program assessments, including pre- and post-tests and participant surveys.
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in ETO, WITNYS, and other required electronic databases.
Maintain participant files and ensure compliance with OASAS, Children's Aid, and grant requirements.
Participate in staff meetings, training, supervision, and professional development activities.
Travel regularly to multiple program locations throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
