About The Position

The Department of Computer Science at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about teaching and student-centered to teach in various subject areas including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Web or Mobile Application Programming, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, High Performance Computing, Computer Graphics, Computer Networks, Machine Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Programming Languages and Compilers, Algorithms, Operating Systems, and Software Engineering. This is a pool from which part-time lecturers will be drawn as needed. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions become available. Appointments from this pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term, requiring applicants to be available on very short notice.

Requirements

• MS degree in computer science or closely related field, OR BS degree in computer science or closely related field with at least 5 years industry experience in computer science field.
• Demonstrable experience in the appropriate field.
• Excellent academic preparation in computer science or closely related field along with current experience in industry.
• Proficiency in online teaching strategies.
• Prior teaching experience at the university level.
• Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse student population, including first-generation college students.

Nice To Haves

• A Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field.
• Significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
• Relevant work experience.
• Professional capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in subject areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Web or Mobile Application Programming, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, High Performance Computing, Computer Graphics, Computer Networks, Machine Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Programming Languages and Compilers, Algorithms, Operating Systems, and Software Engineering.
• Be available on very short notice for temporary appointments, often made just prior to the start of the academic term.
• Participate in performance evaluations conducted by the department.
• Potentially have syllabi, assignments, and reading material reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
