About The Position

The Department of Asian American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in various subject areas within Asian American Studies. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Requirements

  • ABD doctoral candidate or Master’s degree with substantial graduate coursework in Asian American Studies, ethnic studies, or related fields.
  • Expertise in fields relevant to the Department of Asian American Studies curriculum.
  • Evidence of prior relevant teaching, mentoring, or tutoring experience.
  • Evidence of experience in relevant academic field or relevant professional/community-based experience.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Must be available on very short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in the following subject areas: Introduction to Ethnic Studies, Introduction to Asian Pacific American Studies, History of Asian Pacific Americans, Asian Pacific American Cultural Studies, Asian American Film and Video, Asian American Women, Ideas, Imagination and Intersections in Ethnic Studies/ Asian American Studies, Community, Liberation and Action in Ethnic Studies/ Asian American Studies, Vietnamese Communities in the US, Multiple Heritage Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, South Asian American Experiences, Korean American Experiences, World War II Japanese American Evacuation, Civic Engagement Through Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies, Survey of American History with Emphasis on Ethnic Minorities.
  • Be available on very short notice for temporary appointments.
  • Participate in regular performance evaluations.
  • Potentially have syllabi, assignments, and reading material reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
