About The Position

The Environmental Studies Graduate Program at CSUF invites applicants for its part-time faculty pool on an ongoing basis. The master's program in Environmental Studies is a broadly based, interdisciplinary program that focuses on human interaction with the environment. The program is geared for students entering the rapidly expanding environmental field, especially in environmental science, planning and regulation, and environmental education. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of environmental challenges, the program seeks to integrate paradigms and approaches from a range of related disciplines in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. With 60-100 graduate students, the program offers an exciting and rewarding academic experience for its students and its faculty. We are seeking highly motivated, well-organized individuals for possible teaching assignments in the following courses: Air Quality Management, Environmental Education, Environmental Hydrology, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master's degree with considerable professional experience.
  • Disciplinary background and professional expertise consistent with course content.
  • Teaching experience with applied environmental expertise.
  • Experience addressing environmental challenges in the Southern California context.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Must be available on very short notice.
  • Must submit a complete online application.
  • Must provide a Cover Letter which includes a statement of which courses qualified to teach.
  • Must provide a Curriculum Vitae.
  • Must provide a copy of unofficial transcripts conferring highest terminal degree.
  • Must provide a list of three (3) references with contact information.

  • Must provide a sample of course syllabi.
  • Must provide Teaching Evaluations (if available).
  • Must provide three letters of recommendation before official hire.
  • Must provide official transcripts from the institution’s Registrar’s office before official hire.
  • Must comply with the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act.
  • Must complete a satisfactory background check.
  • Must perform CSU related work within the State of California.
