About The Position

The Department of Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS) at CSU Fullerton is seeking experienced and student-centered individuals to join its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. The department is looking for instructors to teach in the areas of Information Systems (Management Information Systems/MIS), Statistics/Decision Sciences, Business Analytics, and Data Analytics/Information Technology. Applicants interested in teaching at the graduate level in the M.S. in Information Systems (MSIS) and MBA concentrations are also encouraged to apply. This is a pool from which part-time lecturers will be drawn as needed. Qualified candidates will be contacted when positions become available. Appointments from this pool are temporary and often made shortly before the academic term begins, requiring applicants to be available on very short notice.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Operations Research, Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Sciences or related field from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in a related quantitative or computational field.
  • Demonstrated competency with tools such as SQL/databases, Python or R, Tableau or Power BI, Excel modeling, and/or systems analysis and design, appropriate to the teaching area.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Availability on very short notice.
  • Must be available for day and/or evening sections, campus locations, online vs. in-person modality, and willingness to accept a single-section assignment on short notice.
  • Must have a satisfactory background check.
  • Must comply with the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA).

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant performance and professional experience.
  • Description of professional currency, certifications, and/or scholarly activity to support AACSB faculty qualification framework classification (e.g., Instructional Practitioner or Scholarly Practitioner).
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence concepts and hands-on experience with AI tools (e.g., generative AI / large language models, AI-assisted analytics and coding).
  • Teaching Evaluations (strongly preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Information Systems (Management Information Systems / MIS), Statistics / Decision Sciences, Business Analytics, Data Analytics / Information Technology.
  • Teach graduate-level courses in the M.S. in Information Systems (MSIS) and MBA concentrations in Information Systems, Business Analytics, and Decision Sciences.
  • Interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Integrate artificial intelligence concepts and tools responsibly into instruction.
  • Participate in performance evaluations which determine future teaching assignments.
  • Potentially have syllabi, assignments, and reading materials reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
