Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) for clinical teaching in BSN program
  • Master’s Degree (MSN) for didactic teaching in the BSN program
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience
  • An unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in Kentucky
  • Curriculum Vitae required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree (MSN) preferred
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Attend orientation/trainings
  • Submit course syllabus
  • Order textbooks or other reading materials
  • Provide developmentally meaningful feedback
  • Present engaging and diverse learning experiences
  • Respond to students in a timely manner
  • Communicate regularly with designated course chair
  • Maintain collegial and respectful relations with members of the UofL community and external stakeholders
  • Submit course data and final grades within university deadlines
  • Comply with other requests as a part-time lecturer
  • Design and implement the clinical experience to meet the clinical and/or course objectives, under the direction of the clinical coordinator (for clinical instructor role)
  • Provide director or indirect supervision of the student, as outlined in the course expectations (for clinical instructor role)
  • Provide student performance feedback and evaluate progress in meeting established clinical/course objectives and outcomes (for clinical instructor role)
  • Consult with the clinical coordinator if student’s deviate from the established expectations (for clinical instructor role)
