About The Position

The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for a full-time renewable (non-tenure track eligible) Lecturer of Nursing - Resource Laboratory for its Nursing Program. This academic year appointment will start in the Fall ‘26 semester. This position is a full-time faculty member responsible for the coordination, planning, and administration of laboratory experiences within the nursing curriculum. The role is structured to include approximately 8 credits of lab management responsibilities and 4 credits of lab teaching. On-campus presence is expected 4-5 days per week depending on student learning and program needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current, unencumbered Maine RN license or eligibility for Maine practice.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience within a health professionals clinical laboratory, simulation center, or lab/simulation management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with faculty to support the overall curriculum for laboratory and simulation learning.
  • Facilitates and oversees lab supply inventory, organization, and ordering for the program.
  • Collaborates with the Simulation Specialist to provide recommendations for equipment and maintenance needs.
  • Facilitates scheduling of open lab practice sessions for all nursing students.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Nursing, Clinical Coordinator, and Simulation Specialist to schedule lab activities across all sites.
  • Negotiates scheduling for simultaneous labs (e.g., Foundations and Adult labs).
  • Teaches in lab settings, focusing on Health Assessment, Foundations, Adult labs, and simulation support.
  • Facilitates instruction in open laboratory settings and provides targeted assistance on "checkoff days" for efficient student evaluation.
  • Orients new faculty to the lab setting and provides ongoing support for faculty teaching activities in the lab across all sites.
  • Collaborates with all distance learning sites to ensure locations are adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Evaluates lab kits and distance site equipment each semester for learning effectiveness.
  • Coordinates with distance site support faculty to ensure required lab and clinical hours are being met.
  • Participates in Program and University Committees.
  • Attends faculty meetings to engage in shared decision-making and professional growth.
