About The Position

Guilford College is seeking a part-time lecturer in Education Studies with expertise in K–12 mathematics pedagogy. The lecturer will teach an introductory course on elementary school mathematics, its fundamental concepts and structure, and approaches emphasizing problem-solving, logical thinking, conjecture, and exploration with concrete materials. Instruction may be delivered in person or in a hybrid format.

Students will develop mathematical and pedagogical proficiency by solving problems, designing lessons, tasks, and assessments, and conducting student error analysis across elementary mathematics content areas. Requirements

• A master's degree or terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

• Teach an introductory course in elementary school mathematics and its foundational concepts and structure.
• Develop students’ mathematical and pedagogical proficiency through problem-solving, lesson and task design, assessment design, and student error analysis.
• Address number concepts and sense, operations and fact fluency, place value, computation strategies, fractions, problem-centered learning, decimals and percents, ratios and proportional reasoning, measurement, and geometric thinking.
