About The Position

The University of Oregon’s Department of Education Studies (EDST) in the College of Education is creating a pool of qualified candidates for periodic temporary teaching appointments. Instructors teach primarily undergraduate courses, while lecturers teach primarily graduate courses. Appointments are limited in duration and may be renewable for up to three years total. They may involve one to three terms per year, including summer. Course subjects may include undergraduate topics such as history and foundations of public education, curriculum and instruction, childhood and adolescent studies, education technology, literacy, and art education. Graduate subjects may include elementary or secondary methods in mathematics, science, world languages, language arts, and social studies; childhood and adolescent studies; classroom communities; education technology; literacy; and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Courses may meet evenings or weekends, take place at distant sites using video conferencing, or be offered entirely online. For online courses, instructors should be available to students by email, Zoom office hours, or phone in place of in-person office hours. Travel within Oregon and to West Coast states may be required for some courses. Faculty are expected to contribute to the College of Education’s equity and inclusion goals and incorporate inclusive practices appropriate to their field. The department encourages applicants with experience working with diverse faculty, staff, and students, and with interests that support its mission of inclusion. Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check. The candidate pool remains active until June 30, 2027, with applications accepted continuously and reviewed as teaching needs arise.
