About The Position

Under the direction of the Cook I/Kitchen Manager, the Part-Time Cook is responsible for supplying food for residents and staff, restocking shelves, cleaning and completing related paperwork. This position is Not Covered (At-will) as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • More than one year of experience working in kitchen or food services
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification within six months of employment
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and cooking procedures
  • Ability to use grill, oven, fryers and other kitchen equipment

Responsibilities

  • Cooking and serving meals, including sides and salads, for residents and staff of the Youth Services Center.
  • Restocking shelves and rotating stock.
  • Washing, drying, and putting away dishes.
  • Sweeping and mopping floors and rubber matting.
  • Washing all equipment, including, but not limited to the grill, deep fryer, and baskets.
  • Documenting meals for tracking purposes.
  • Preparing and distributing snacks twice daily.
  • Separating trash and recyclables.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
