About The Position

The National Safety Council is seeking part-time instructors to teach adult- and teen-focused Defensive Driving Course (DDC) classroom curriculum about safe driving. Courses serve a variety of motorists, including people required by a state or court to attend a driver retraining program. Classes may be held on weekdays, weekends, or evenings and typically involve four to eight hours of instruction, depending on the curriculum. Instructors choose their own schedules and may teach as much or as little as they want. Full instructor certification training and materials are provided to qualified candidates. This is a continuous recruitment posting for NSC’s pool of potential instructors.

Requirements

• Experience in public speaking and the ability to lead effective classroom discussions with a diverse group of students.
• A background in sociology, psychology, counseling, or education.
• A personal email address for communication through the Instructor Portal and DDC Information Highway.
• Ability to handle unexpected difficulties, including equipment failures, facility issues, learning or behavioral difficulties, and class disruptions.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Portuguese.
