Part-Time Instructor - Defensive Driving - Bilingual English/Spanish
About The Position
The National Safety Council is seeking part-time instructors to teach adult- and teen-focused Defensive Driving Course (DDC) classroom curriculum about safe driving. Students may include motorists required by a state or court to attend a driver retraining program. Classes are held on weekdays, weekends, and evenings, and typically involve four to eight hours of instruction, depending on the curriculum. Instructors choose their own schedules and may teach as much or as little as they want. Full instructor certification training and materials are provided to qualified candidates. The pay rate starts at $37 per hour. Applications are continuously accepted to build a broad and diverse pool of candidates for potential instructor employment.
Requirements
- Experience in public speaking and the ability to lead effective classroom discussions.
- Ability to handle a diverse group of students.
- A background in sociology, psychology, counseling, or education.
- A personal email address for electronic communication through the Instructor Portal and DDC Information Highway.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

- Weekend availability is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach life-saving Driver Safety Course curriculum to adult and teen students.
- Lead classroom discussions and teach students about the importance of safe driving.
- Manage diverse groups of students and respond to unexpected difficulties, including equipment failures, facility issues, learning or behavioral difficulties, and class disruptions.
