About The Position

The surgical technology clinical instructor is responsible for delivering a quality educational experience, clinical observation & progress assessments for the students at the hospital clinical site. Clinical days will be 1-2 days per week, as assigned from 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Opportunities to participate in the classroom and lab, providing instruction and leading discussion of your surgical specialty.

Possess a high degree of integrity and commitment to comply with policies, regulations, and codes of conduct governing all aspects of job responsibilities.
Demonstrated computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Requires a minimum of Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Requires a minimum of two (2) years of operating room experience in the scrub role or teaching in the field, or a combination of the two, within five (5) years prior to hire date.
Requires current certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Joint Certified Surgical Technologist/Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA) and American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.

Familiarity with Blackboard a plus.

Responsibilities

Work in partnership with the clinical site when assigning students to appropriate surgical cases.
Assess student performance in achieving course objectives and communicate progress in a timely manner.
Address student issues in a timely manner, including communicating issues to program director.
Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of course objectives and inform them of their progress in the course in a timely manner.
Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
Discuss with students their concerns and/or problems directly or indirectly related to the clinical learning experience and the achievement of satisfactory progress.
Provide a professional role model for students.
Remain current in the surgical technology field and related information to teaching/clinical responsibilities with continuing education and professional development.
Is responsible to assist the student to develop an understanding of values, attitudes, and ideals appropriate to a surgical technologist.
Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with Program Director or his/her designee.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Maintain all health requirements & clinical onboarding, as required by our clinical sites.
