Part-Time Faculty: Nursing - Mental Health Clinical Instructor
About The Position
The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) is seeking adjunct faculty to teach clinical courses in its Nursing Program. UMA offers a holistic RN-BSN program with a pre-licensure option emphasizing caring science. The program utilizes a state-of-the-art simulation center and smart classrooms. Faculty are expected to demonstrate expertise in evidence-based best practices, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to diversity and student success, and a collaborative spirit. This role involves teaching mental health theory, lab, simulation, and/or clinical courses in various formats, with potential for additional courses based on applicant experience and education.
Requirements
- Current unencumbered licensure as a RN in the State of Maine, or eligibility for Maine licensure.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing/Master’s or higher to teach the theory portion of any course.
- Clinical practice within the past five years in mental health.
- Strong desire to support student learning in mental health environments and experiences.
- Teaching that includes the use of new technologies and delivery systems; experience teaching students at a distance.
Nice To Haves
- Three or more years of teaching at the college level.
- MSN or higher degree in nursing
- National certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHNCC)
- Teaching experience within a concept based curriculum with an emphasis on caring science.
- Experience in teaching in simulation
Responsibilities
- Teaching mental health theory, lab, simulation and/or clinical courses in the BSN pre-licensure program in both traditional and non-traditional clinical formats.
