About The Position

The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) is seeking adjunct faculty to teach clinical in its holistic RN-BSN program. UMA emphasizes caring science in its concept-based curriculum and seeks candidates with expertise in evidence-based best practices, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to diversity and student success, and a desire to collaborate with faculty. The university offers state-of-the-art simulation centers and smart classrooms. This position involves teaching fundamentals, health assessment, and medical-surgical lab, simulation, and/or clinical courses in the BSN pre-licensure program in both traditional and non-traditional clinical formats. Additional courses may be taught based on applicant experience and education.

Requirements

  • Current unencumbered licensure as a RN in the State of Maine, or eligibility for Maine licensure.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing/Master’s or higher to teach the theory portion of any course.
  • Clinical practice within the past five years in med/surg nursing.
  • Strong desire to support student learning in mental health environments and experiences.
  • Teaching that includes the use of new technologies and delivery systems; experience teaching students at a distance.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of teaching at the college level.
  • MSN or higher degree in nursing
  • National certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHNCC)
  • Teaching experience within a concept based curriculum with an emphasis on caring science.
  • Experience in teaching in simulation

Responsibilities
