About The Position

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in Surgical Technology courses. This role will teach theory and lab courses in alignment with the Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Graduate of an associate-degree Surgical Technology program accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
  • Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
  • Must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) through the American Heart Association (AHA) at the Basic Life Support (BLS) level.
  • Valid and in State Driver's License.
  • Two (2) years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, and the public.
  • Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Surgical Technologist in clinical practice.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multi-cultural issues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of educational theory.
  • Developed organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct, supervise, and evaluate students in the courses (classroom and laboratory setting) of the Surgical Technology program.
  • Assist with curriculum review and revision.
  • Maintain accurate written records on Student performance.
  • Maintain communications with program and school administrators, as appropriate.
  • Monitor and alert program administration of needed supplies, materials, instrumentation, equipment, and maintenance as appropriate.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
  • Assist program faculty and administrators with laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Attend Department meetings as requested.
  • Complete course-level assessments at the conclusion of each semester.
  • Ensure that all course policies and protocols are aligned with program and college policies.
  • Model professional behavior and mentor students toward success.
  • Perform other appropriate job-related duties as assigned by the Director.
