About The Position

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in Surgical Technology courses. This role will teach theory and lab courses in alignment with the Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology.

Requirements

Associate's Degree Graduate of an associate-degree Surgical Technology program accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) through the American Heart Association (AHA) at the Basic Life Support (BLS) level.
Valid and in State Driver's License.
Two (2) years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, and the public.
Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
Understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Surgical Technologist in clinical practice.
Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multi-cultural issues.
Knowledge and understanding of educational theory.
Developed organizational skills.

Bachelor's Degree In a health related or educational discipline.

Responsibilities

Instruct, supervise, and evaluate students in the courses (classroom and laboratory setting) of the Surgical Technology program.
Assist with curriculum review and revision.
Maintain accurate written records on Student performance.
Maintain communications with program and school administrators, as appropriate.
Monitor and alert program administration of needed supplies, materials, instrumentation, equipment, and maintenance as appropriate.
Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
Assist program faculty and administrators with laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
Attend Department meetings as requested.
Complete course-level assessments at the conclusion of each semester.
Ensure that all course policies and protocols are aligned with program and college policies.
Model professional behavior and mentor students toward success.
Perform other appropriate job-related duties as assigned by the Director.
