About The Position

The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) seeks Adjunct Faculty members who are subject matter experts in Psychology to serve as Instructors of Record and/or develop courses for undergraduate and graduate programs. Instruction may be delivered online, on campus, or in other approved instructional modalities, including traditional 15-week semester courses and 8-week Competency-Based Education (CBE) formats. Teaching assignments and course development opportunities are based on departmental needs, faculty expertise, and course delivery schedules. Traditional semester courses are typically offered during the Fall and Spring semesters, with additional opportunities during Summer sessions. Competency-Based Education (CBE) courses are offered in multiple eight-week sessions throughout the year. Scheduling is flexible and aligned with instructional and program needs. Subject matter expertise includes, but is not limited to: Abnormal Psychology, Animal Behavior, Cognitive Psychology, Counseling, Drugs and Behavior, Lifespan Development, Personality, Psychobiology, Research Methods, Sex and Gender, Substance Abuse Counseling, Vocational Aspects of Disabilities, and Other Psychology disciplines. Courses may be delivered in synchronous or asynchronous formats, as appropriate for the instructional model, and meaningful interaction with students is expected.

Requirements

  • For undergraduate degree programs: At minimum, a master's degree from an accredited institution and/or significant work experience in a related field.
  • For graduate degree programs: A doctorate, terminal degree, or other advanced degree in the field of study and/or significant work experience in a related field.
  • Computer (desktop or laptop) with sufficient processing speed and capabilities.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection.
  • Webcam.
  • Microphone.
