About The Position

Montgomery College is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching in Food Production Labs, Hospitality Law, Food and Beverage Cost Control, Supervision and Leadership, and other courses related to hospitality management. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach a limited number of equivalent semester hours per semester and academic year, with specific limits for summer sessions. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and is determined at Management’s sole discretion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Hospitality Business, Food Studies, Culinary or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of management experience in the culinary or hospitality industry.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience teaching at college level.
  • Knowledge of, and commitment to, the community college philosophy and mission.
  • Willingness and flexibility to teach course sections as needed.
  • Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
  • Ability to teach in a multicultural setting.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
  • Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
  • Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Hospitality Management, Hospitality Business, Food Studies, Food Science, Event Management or MBA.
  • Experience teaching hospitality courses at the college level.
  • 5+ years of experience in upper level management.
  • For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses related to hospitality management.
  • Teach a varied schedule of courses that may include day, night, weekend and/or accelerated sections.
