About The Position

Portland Community College is seeking applications for Part-time Faculty openings for Dental Assisting. The program is located in the Vanport Building in downtown Portland, Oregon. This role involves teaching current PCC courses in Dental Assisting. The college serves approximately 80,000 full- and part-time students across four campuses, five workforce training and education centers, and 200 community locations, aiming to make high-quality education accessible and contribute to economic development.

Requirements

Current CDA (Certified Dental Assistant)
Oregon Radiology Proficiency
Oregon EFDA and Sealant Certificates
Bachelor’s Degree required
Clinical Experience of 5 years in a FT position either as a general chair-side assistant or as a dental assisting instructor.
Must reside in Oregon or Washington.
Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.

Nice To Haves

A dental hygiene license or dentist license could substitute for the dental assisting certificates.
Evidence of recent continuing education in the areas of team building and/or dental practice management skills (Human Relations and Communication)
Evidence of recent continuing education in dental materials manipulation and fabrication of impressions, temporary crowns, and study casts (Computation)
Experience in curriculum design, teaching or training (Human Relations)

Responsibilities

Teach current PCC courses in Dental Assisting.
Potentially teach courses with embedded Related Instruction, requiring continuing education in specific areas like team building, dental practice management, dental materials manipulation, fabrication of impressions, temporary crowns, and study casts.
Contribute to curriculum design, teaching, or training in areas of Human Relations and Communication, Computation, and Human Relations.
