About The Position

National University is seeking part-time faculty to teach Obstetric & Mother–Baby Nursing clinicals at placement sites for their Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The role involves working with the Academic Program Director and other faculty to ensure program quality, student engagement, and student success. The ideal candidate will have a strong teaching record or potential and a commitment to serving a diverse adult student body.

Requirements

  • A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited institution.
  • At least one year of continuous clinical bedside nursing experience in an acute care setting (Obstetric & Mother–Baby Nursing) within the last 5 years as a RN providing direct patient care, OR at least one year of RN level clinical teaching experience within the last 5 years.
  • Must have a current, unencumbered CA Registered Nursing license.

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D., DNP, or Ed.D.) from a nationally accredited or regionally accredited university.
  • 2+ years of higher education teaching experience in a professional nursing program.
  • Experience teaching adult learners.
  • National certification in specialty area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sessions at clinical placement sites.
  • Provide substantive, timely feedback to students on various assessment activities.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment.
  • Complete required tasks on deadlines (e.g., final grades, assessment, grading rubrics, input for grade appeals, etc.).
  • Maintain appropriate professional training and/or scholarly activities, when applicable.
  • Provide feedback to the course lead regarding the course content.
  • Identify at-risk students and collaborate with student services.
  • Perform some indirect patient care in the skills and simulation lab.
