Southwestern College is looking to hire a part-time instructor to teach a variety of Art History courses including: ARTH C1200 -Survey of Art from the Renaissance to Contemporary. This course provides an overview of art and architecture from the Renaissance to the contemporary period with a focus on art from Europe. The course will further consider global interactions involving this region. Class modalities include face-to-face, online, hybrid, and remote. Classes may be held during weekdays, and/or evenings at any of the campus sites (Chula Vista, National City, Otay Mesa, and/or San Ysidro) including local high schools and/or Donovan Prison.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in art history, history of art and architecture or visual culture/visual studies OR Bachelor’s degree in art history and master’s in history OR Master’s in art with a recorded emphasis or concentration in art history OR The equivalent.
  • Additional assessment is required for applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States.
  • Applicants must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) and must submit a copy of the evaluation with the application.

  • Any relevant certifications, diplomas, or licenses that demonstrate you meet the minimum qualifications of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of Art History courses including: ARTH C1200 -Survey of Art from the Renaissance to Contemporary.
