About The Position

Langara College is seeking a qualified candidate to teach HIST 1116 (Colonies and Conflict: Canada to 1867) within the History, Latin, and Political Science department. This is a temporary, part-time position (25% of full-time) with a specific teaching schedule. The role involves maintaining currency in instructional practices and subject areas, ensuring effective use of class time, maintaining office hours for student consultation, fostering collegial working relationships, integrating students into the community, and participating in program design and review. The instructor will be a positive contributor to the department, faculty, and college.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in History.
• Teaching and/or research experience in Pre-Confederation Canadian history.
• Available to teach Mon/Wed, 2:30-4:20 pm
• Must be located in BC or willing to move to BC to accept work with Langara College.

Responsibilities

• Teach HIST 1116 (Colonies and Conflict: Canada to 1867)
• Maintain currency and strive for excellence in instructional practices and approaches.
• Maintain currency in relevant subject areas, including global and/or local trends, issues, and opportunities.
• Ensure effective use of available class and lab time and maintain appropriate office hours to ensure availability for student consultation.
• Maintain collegial working relationships.
• As appropriate, actively seek opportunities to integrate students and learning into organizations and/or the community.
• As may be required, participate actively in programme design and review.
• Be a positive and active contributor to the Department of History, Latin and Political Science, the Faculty of Social Sciences & Management, and the College.
