About The Position

The Department of Humanities at Columbia College seeks an adjunct (part-time) instructor to teach HIST 111: Ancient Worlds: A Global Story during the Fall 2026 semester. This is a world history class covering prehistory to 1500CE. It is an in-seat, synchronous, general education class taught on our home campus in Columbia, Missouri. Classes start on 31 August, and this class meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 2:30 pm – 3:25 p.m.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in History, with graduate coursework in world history content.
  • Graduate transcripts must be submitted with application materials.
  • Submit an updated CV.
  • Submit an application letter which discusses teaching experience and degree information.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • College teaching experience preferred.
